Checking for a Warrant in Rock County
A Rock County warrant check starts with the case file. The charge, the judge's order, and any release conditions all sit at Rock County District Court. The Rock County Sheriff's Office serves the paper and answers service questions. Minnesota Court Records Online, known as MCRO, is the public case-search route, and Rock County Court Administration answers status questions on weekdays. Gather identifiers first. A name and date of birth narrow a warrant lookup. A case or citation number narrows it further.
- Confirm the current court page through the Minnesota Judicial Branch court locator.
- Search Minnesota Court Records Online by name, case number, or citation number, then narrow to Criminal and Rock County.
- Open the case and read the Register of Actions and Case Information rather than the results line.
- Call Rock County Court Administration when a record is unclear.
- Call the Rock County Sheriff's Office about service, custody, or the county output.
- Speak with an attorney before you contact anyone, because a call or visit can end in custody.
Use the court locator to find the courthouse, then open the case file. It is a directory, not a warrant database.
The Rock County Outstand Warrants Link
The Rock County Sheriff's Office page carries a link labeled Outstand Warrants. It points to a dated Odyssey job output generated on March 27, 2025. That address redirects now. It returns a 404 error. A dead link settles less than it seems to. It is not proof that no warrant exists, nor proof that Rock County stopped publishing warrant records. The file was unavailable at that address that day. Status for a single warrant comes from the case file. Note: Treat an unreachable warrant output as an open question, then confirm the case with Rock County Court Administration or the sheriff.
The Rock County Sheriff's Office page is the official page to revisit when the sheriff posts a corrected warrant output.
Rock County Warrant Types
Minnesota court rules use a short list of names for criminal process. The label on the order changes what happens next. Read it before calling any office in Rock County.
| Warrant Type | How It Arises | Who Issues It |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest warrant | Probable cause in a complaint, with a reason a summons will not do | Rock County District Court judge |
| Bench or FTA warrant | Missed appearance after a summons or citation, or a violated court direction | Rock County District Court judge |
| Sign-and-release warrant | Narrow first failure to appear after a mailed summons came back undeliverable | Court order under Minn. Stat. §629.415 |
| Search warrant | Probable cause, on affidavit, to search a place, person, or property | Judge under Minn. Stat. §626.08 |
A sign-and-release warrant is the one type that does not authorize arrest or require bail when its conditions apply. It is statutory, not a Rock County amnesty program.
Rock County Warrant Records and the Red W
Minnesota Government Access is a restricted system for authorized court users, and its guidance helps outsiders read case screens correctly. A red W can flag an active warrant. The guidance cautions that the icon may reflect a warrant from a different case than the one you are reading in a Rock County search. That caution is why case-level review matters. Bond facts sit in two places. Case Information carries the bond status history. The amount itself appears in the bond document filed under Case Events. A Rock County search-results line alone shows neither. Note: The Minnesota Government Access guidance is written for authorized users, so it explains a workflow rather than offering a public warrant search.
The Rock County home page gathers links to the courthouse, the Sheriff's Office, and city government.
Inside a Rock County Warrant Record
The blank Minnesota warrant form, the Rule 8 form, shows the fields a warrant record holds. A filed Rock County copy adds more. Service entries, hearings, and later orders fill it out.
| Court and file number | District court, county, judicial district, and the District Court File No. in the state format XX-CR-YY-##### |
|---|---|
| Party | Defendant name or a legally sufficient description |
| Basis | Complaint, citation, probable cause, or a failure to appear |
| Offense | The offense identified in the process |
| Release terms | Bail amount and release conditions, where the order sets them |
| Issuer | Judge or issuing officer, with signature and issue date |
| Direction | Direction to the sheriff or another authorized officer |
Two fields decide the practical questions. Release terms show whether bail is set, and the direction names which agency acts on the warrant.
- Bench warrant
- A court-issued warrant, often after a missed appearance.
- FTA
- Failure to appear, the phrase Minnesota forms use.
- Sign-and-release warrant
- A narrow process that requires no bail and allows no arrest.
- Register of Actions
- The case history of hearings, filings, bond events, and orders.
- Recall or quash
- A later order that changes an earlier warrant's status.
The Rock County Courthouse and Warrant Cases
Rock County District Court sits in the Luverne courthouse. It holds original jurisdiction over every criminal and traffic case filed in the county. That explains the local map. No separate municipal court or justice-of-the-peace court publishes its own warrant docket for Rock County cities.
The courthouse gallery supplied the photo. Renovations have moved Court Administration into the Land Records Office in the same building. Check the current court page before you go.
Issuing and Serving Warrants in Rock County
Two offices split this work in Rock County. Mixing them up wastes time. A Rock County District Court judge issues the process, sets any bail or conditions, and later decides whether to recall a warrant. The Rock County Sheriff's Office carries out the order and handles custody questions.
Rock County Sheriff's Office
1000 N. Blue Mound Ave., Luverne, MN 56156
(507) 283-5000
Service desk Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office describes itself as the only law enforcement agency in Rock County and dispatches to Luverne, Steen, Hills, Beaver Creek, Hardwick, Kenneth, and Magnolia.
Rock County belongs to the Fifth Judicial District. The district spans Rock and fourteen other southwest Minnesota counties, and its office supports court operations without hearing cases.
The Fifth Judicial District page shows which state courts handle Rock County cases.
The Nobles County Jail and Rock County Warrants
Rock County runs no jail of its own. It contracts with the Nobles County Sheriff's Office for jail services, putting the custody facility in Worthington.
Nobles County Jail
1530 Airport Ste 200, Worthington, MN 56187
(507) 295-5290
jailpod@co.nobles.mn.us
The jail page lists visitation, mail, and inmate-account rules, but no Rock County bond window.
Keep the questions apart. Custody logistics belong to the Nobles County Jail, while Rock County District Court resolves the case.
If You Have a Warrant in Rock County
The Minnesota Judicial Branch criminal help topic says the sheriff's office where a person was charged may help clear a warrant. The same page warns that calling or showing up at the court or sheriff can mean custody. That risk is real. Talk to a lawyer before any call or walk-in.
Important: Speak with a lawyer before you turn yourself in or ask about your own Rock County warrant at a counter, because a voluntary contact can still end in custody.
Facing an active warrant in Rock County leaves you few routes. A lawyer can file a motion or set up an appearance. The court then sets bail or conditions. A payable citation can run through the Court Payment Center, and a later court order can recall the warrant. Paying a fine alone does not clear it, so read up on the difference between a Rock County bench warrant search and a new charge before you act.
Traffic Warrants and Rock County Court Payment
Traffic cases in Rock County belong to the court, not to any driving-record product. The state's Pay-a-Fine page is firm: pay or schedule an appearance within 30 days of the citation's filing date in court.
| Event | What It Is | Where It Lives |
|---|---|---|
| Court payment | Money owed on a payable citation | Minnesota Court Payment Center |
| Payment plan | An eligible $50 per month plan | State payment-plan request |
| Failure-to-appear event | A missed date that can lead to a warrant | Rock County District Court case |
| License notice | A separate state licensing action | Department of Public Safety record |
One state rule has shifted. Since January 1, 2022, license suspension for failure to appear or pay applies only to certain misdemeanor traffic offenses, and Driving After Suspension sits outside that limit. A license notice from Rock County is still not a warrant.
Rock County Warrant Records and Public Access
Minnesota treats government data as public unless a law says otherwise. Warrant records still run into limits. An arrest-warrant index can stay confidential while a Rock County case is active, and juvenile files follow separate statutes.
Key Rules:
Minn. Stat. §13.03 gives the public the right to inspect government data free of charge, with copy costs limited to actual search, retrieval, and copying.
Minn. Stat. §13.82 makes arrest-warrant indices confidential until the person is taken into custody, served, or appears in court.
Minn. Stat. §260B.163 generally closes juvenile hearings, and juvenile records carry restricted-release rules.
Court copy requests run through Court Administration, where uncertified copies are free and certified copies may cost more.
Ask Rock County for the public portion of a record instead of assuming a whole index is open. If an office denies the request, it must cite the legal basis for withholding.
No Rock County Warrant Roundup Was Located
Rock County runs no warrant amnesty event, roundup, or walk-in docket. The county, court, and state payment pages describe ordinary process and payment routes only, with no special program announced between 2024 and 2026. Don't sit around waiting for one. A missed court date in Rock County gets addressed through the court that set the case.
Federal Warrants and Rock County Cases
Federal warrants do not originate in Rock County District Court. The county sits in the District of Minnesota, Fourth Division, and a state case search will not surface a federal warrant. Use PACER for federal docket access. The District of Minnesota contact page answers clerk questions. Sealed entries and grand-jury material may not show up in a public search, so a blank result is never a clearance.
Rock County Warrants by City
Five cities hold most of Rock County's residents, and all five sit inside the same court and sheriff system. Rock County District Court handles the filed criminal and traffic cases. The Rock County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement countywide.
